STORIES FROM GREECE

K.’s story is one of movement marked by courage, risk, and endurance. It begins in Afghanistan, a place of deep roots, memory, and identity, and continues through a difficult and uncertain journey that led her, together with her two children, to Greece.
Her path was not direct. It unfolded through repeated attempts to cross from Türkiye to Greece, each one carrying its own fear, exhaustion, and hope. These moments are not easily separated; they remain intertwined in her memory, where danger and determination exist side by side. Migration, for K., was not a single passage, but a series of crossings, each one demanding strength, patience, and the will to continue.
In her painting, this journey takes shape through three shells placed at the center. Each shell represents a country that has marked her story: Afghanistan, where her life began; Türkiye, the place of passage and uncertainty; and Greece, where she is now building a new life. Together, they form a quiet map of her experience, holding both distance and connection.
