STORIES FROM GREECE

In her frame, Algeria appears clearly and proudly. The national symbols and colors are placed with care, showing how deeply connected she remains to the country where her story began. For N., Algeria is not simply a place of origin; it is part of her identity, her emotional world, and the foundation on which she continues to build her life. The hearts drawn around the frame suggest affection, longing, and gratitude. They speak of a bond that distance has not weakened.
At the same time, this artwork is not only about the past. It is also about the present and the new life she is creating in Greece. Her journey reflects both attachment and adaptation: the ability to honor where she comes from while opening herself to a different environment, new routines, and new possibilities. Her integration in Greece does not erase her roots; instead, it adds another layer to her story.
N.’s story is a story of love, memory, and quiet strength. Coming from Algeria and living in Greece for more than two years, she carries her homeland with her not only in her thoughts, but also in the symbols, habits, and values that continue to shape her everyday life.

On the right side of the frame, N. expresses one of the activities she loves most: making pastries. This detail is especially meaningful, because food is often one of the most intimate ways in which culture travels. Through baking and creating sweets, she keeps alive flavors, gestures, and memories connected to home, while also sharing care and hospitality with those around her. Her pastries become a language of connection.
At the center, the golden mussel shells represent what is most precious to her: her family. They symbolize N., her husband, and her son — three lives connected, protected, and held together. At the heart of her journey stands this family bond: strong, enduring, and full of hope for the future.
